The Arabian Saluki Centre of Canada is a non profit corp. involved in helping re-home abandoned, mistreated and abused Salukis and their crosses in the Middle East to find homes in Canada, US and Europe. We work alongside our partners 2nd Chance Rescue Qatar, RSME, DID, PAWS Rescue Qatar and RAK AWC. 

 

 

Have you ever considered sharing your life with a Saluki?
The Arabian Saluki Centre of Canada is always looking for foster homes and potential adopters.
If you have ever wondered if maybe Salukis are the right breed for you, fostering provides a perfect opportunity to get to know the breed a little better.

Sighthound experience is a definite asset but not necessarily required.
All potential foster homes and adopters will be required to fill out an application followed by a phone interview and/or home visit.
We always strive to match the right dog with the right home. Some of our Salukis love the hustle and bustle of a multi-dog house or adore running around with children while others prefer a more laid back quiet home.

 

In response to recent issues with Imported dogs from other organisations bringing disease into the local dog population and in response to articles surrounding this subject the Arabian Saluki Centre of Canada would like to make this statement:

We bring in clean dogs. Our dogs receive full health checks, all vaccinations and treatment for any issues seen by a very experienced Veterinary Team.

 

 

The dogs are genuinely in need of help. In one of the shelters we are partnered with they have 160 dogs, not all Salukis. Saluki's don't readily find homes in the Middle East and are abanonded for lots of reasons and in numbers.

 

We are not displacing a North American born puppy. There simply are not enough Saluki's to satisfy demand as the breeders don't breed to produce lots of puppies, they breed to improve the Breed in North America.

In fact, we probably give the average person a first time experience with a Saluki that they might not otherwise get, and in turn introduce more people to the wonderful Saluki Breed.
